Today's Topics:
  • Final project
  • MS Publisher
  • Pull Quotes
New Keyboard Shortcuts:
  • SHIFT CTRL M  means to move something back
  • WINDOW M means to minimize all open windows
New Things I Learned Today:
  1. Highlight merge field shows where you merged a field in a document.Always remove because the highlighted part will print.
  2. When you want something to pop out in a columned document you can go get a pull quote and insert it into your document so your readers know what you want them to really know.
  3. Don't put to many pull quotes because it will make your document look to gawky.
  4. You can also add a drop cap in say a newsletter so the first letter will be bigger it also makes your document pop out as the same with this as a pull quote, a drop cap put in a document it will look cluttered.
New MS Ribbon Item: Go to insert and click on wordart i like how you can type a text and after you are done you can move it to any where you would like in your document.

New Things I Learned Today:
  1. To use Excel instead of Word when entering a data source that way is a lot easier.
  2. Always start Field Name in Row one in Excel the you can type in the data how it needs too be. NEVER skip a row in Excel.
  3. Most common letter and size in Mail Merge is Avery and 5260.
  4. Make sure when you are doing Mail Labels you fix 10 pt gap or it could shave off your data and it will make your Labels look very nasty.
New MS Ribbon Item: Go to Layout when you have a table or Labels and you can turn on and off your grid lines depends on if you prefer them or not.
